The primary goal of Poem Train and Cafe Poetica, Poem Train's educational critique forums for the creative arts, is to inspire, encourage and assist our members to improve their abilities . We strive to create an atmosphere that is conducive to learning and which promotes camaraderie among all the participating artists. We wish to "set the table" so-to-speak and invite people to join us at the Cafe in the hopes that the interaction of writers with  other  writers will enable everyone to improve his/her craft.  

The secondary goal, though no less important when people network like this with each other, is to provide the kind of environment that fosters meaningful relationships among people who share a dream about becoming better writers. The idea of having a Cafe Poetica sitting out here in cyberspace for many to enjoy has been a long-awaited dream-come-true for the owners/creators of Poem Train.

We wish to promote and provide many exciting and innovative ways to get involved with the writing experience. We are seeking creative exercises to better provide for creative minds. We are committed to communicating with every member on a timely basis through our Newsletter. There will be an exciting new "virtual classroom" for ALL to enjoy and we will strive to bring quality guest speakers into this program. The teen forum will enable young people to have a "place of their own" where more time and energy can be spent on discovering just what their individual voices might be and become.  

In reality, we wish to be enablers; this Poem Train has a limitless supply of fuel and it can travel anywhere its passengers desire to go. As we all stay on track and focused on our individual creative goals, all of us here at Poem Train hope you will enjoy the trip. Your ticket to ride can take you as far as your imagination will take you.

Café Poetica and Afterwords We are all seated at a quatrain-legged table in Café Poetica, barely scratching the surface; looking across, without reading glasses, we’re sharing each other's poems. We recite the lines of yours and mine; those lines, sometimes are seemingly blurred, yet they beg us to bring their mysteries and meanings into focus through a caring looking glass. We will often read between the rhymes that cultivate our common threads that now have stitched the fabric of our lives together. We are performing a ritual as we wed our verse beneath a universal canopy woven through unbelievable constellations. We see eye-to-eye ... I to I, and selfishly translate our imaginations as we try to understand what we have created…. what we had discovered. We now know our relationship just can’t mean, but be as we wonder where our shared souls might meet and transcend afterwords. Copyright © Norman S. Pollack
